Bitcoiners were crying when I quoted @DigiEconomist that a single BTC transaction uses the same amount of energy as a single US household does over the course of nearly a month. This from the White House should really upset them: https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/ERP-2023.pdf

Even at just the current price level Bitcoin is already responsible for around 1% of all electricity consumption in the US and that’s only accounting for the share of miners that is actually operating in the US.
