The typical justification for AI’s huge energy demand is a mix of wishful thinking and ignorance (ie ignoring Jevons’ Paradox).

The tech giant does not consider it “meaningful” to provide AI-specific info, despite pointing to AI as the driver for their surging carbon emissions (50% increase compared to five years ago).
